Analysis of the Association between the MTHFR C677T Polymorphism, Lipid Profile and Oxidative Stress in Adults

Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) is a key enzyme in the metabolic pathway in which homocysteine converts 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate to 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, thus generating the active form of folate required for the methylation of homocysteine to methionine [1]. Therefore, the C677T polymorphism in the MTHFR gene is commonly associated with changes in serum concentrations of homocysteine and folic acid
